The
Fishers of Men Ministry
is a twelve-week course of specialized training in
person-to-person evangelism. The curriculum is geared to the typical member
of the church of Christ with little or no experience in teaching the
gospel. The FOM course entails daily Bible study and
training in methods of reaching and teaching the lost.
Who may enroll?
Any Christian male or female who is 16 or older may enroll in
Fishers of Men if willing to make the necessary commitment.
What does it cost?
Thanks to the financial support of congregations and individual
members of the church of Christ throughout the U.S., our full-time instructors
work free of charge. There is no tuition fee, book fee or charge
of any kind. But students must commit to a significant amount of
study.
- Eleven 2 ½ hour classes held for eleven
consecutive weeks (7:00-9:30 PM on Monday evenings)
- Week 12 is a graduation banquet
- Nightly homework on first principles (averaging
~1 hour each day)
- Bible studies with non-Christians are required
for graduation

Bible study
- Assessing the "heart condition" of prospects
- How and where to get definite appointments for
home Bible study
- Dealing with questions and objections
- Teaching effectively
- Creating Godly sorrow
- Persuading Scripturally
Who teaches the course?
Dr. Timothy Wilkes, director of the
Fishers of Men Ministry, taught the class at the Pikes Peak church of Christ
in Colorado Springs.

- Full-time FOM teacher since 1993
- Conducted missions & campaigns in Australia, New
Zealand, India, Japan, Malaysia, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Tanzania, and
Russia
- Education: Ph.D. in Andragogy (Science of
how adults learn)
from Capella University, MS in Andragogy from Capella University; BA in Bible, M.Th. & D.R.E., he is a graduate of
the Memphis School of Preaching two year program and three year graduate
program
